Growing up, I did not have much to play with so when aunty Rashida started teaching me how to spell, I found the freedom every child found in their toys. Only that mine was within the hardcover Enid Blyton books. I found words that rhymed with others and called them brothers.

That and Daraja is why I am the poet I am today.
